01 Curriculum
Start with the courses and objectives your faculty teach. Review their connections to program expectations and your selected AACN Essentials framework.
Start with your courses, objectives and selected framework. We help organize the curriculum for mapping.

Review the proposed alignments and approve the links that reflect your curriculum.
Choose the expectations for each program’s pathway. AACN distinguishes entry-level and advanced-level nursing education; the degree name alone does not describe every student’s preparation.

See clinical planning02 Clinical planning
Keep students, sites and placement dates in view. Start with Amara’s primary care placement, then look at capacity and outstanding requirements.
A placement creates an opportunity to learn.
See the assessment evidence03 Assessment and competencies
Look at the cohort, the evidence behind a result and one student’s progress. Faculty and preceptor assessments give the records their learning context.
Keep the experience behind the assessment close.
See a recorded encounter04 Case logs and practicum hours
Track clinical-hour progress and patient encounters. Here, Amara’s case log keeps the encounter, placement and review status together.
Experience and hours support assessment. They do not establish competence on their own.
The student’s own work adds another perspective.

06 Program effectiveness and CCNE review
Return to the wider picture. Review program measures and recorded results, then bring faculty findings into an improvement plan.
These examples use internal program criteria. Faculty interpret the evidence against the applicable accreditation standards.
CCNE standards transition
January 1, 2027 is the effective date for CCNE’s revised 2026 standards. Baccalaureate and graduate programs with an on-site evaluation or report on or after that date must address them.
The revisions follow AACN’s 2026 Essentials update, including Access, Connection, and Engagement. Start by confirming the framework and program level your faculty will use.
